Reducing total current by serial arrangement of Electrolyzers leads to improvement of electrical efficiency. B. Using double cathode structure minimizes foreign material from adhesion to the cathode. C. AquaStarTM BWMS uses the method of In-line. So, AquaStarTM BWMS is generated a relatively low active substance. D. AquaStarTM BWMS uses consecutive connected among Electrolyzer units. So, AquaStarTM BWMS is easy to install for Electrolyzer unit in the small engine-room regardless of installing space size. E. AquaStarTM BWMS is installed the insulation-frame in the interior of the Electrolyzer unit. So, AquaStarTM BWMS is lowered the leak current. F. AquaStarTM BWMS are installed at port and starboard side respectively, so when there is a trouble at the one side of ballast line, the other side’s AquaStarTM BWMS is available to treat ballasting process in order to avoid off-hire. Weakness A. There is limitation operating with fresh water. B. Necessity for neutralizing What is Smart Pipe in AquaStar™ BWMS? <A> AquaStar™BWMS does not use filter but Smart Pipe. Instead of filter, Smart Pipe is designed to function of partial filter to solve a problem of filter. Micro organisms in ballast water are killed or damaged by phisical impact like turbulence generated by 50μm half screen in smart pipe. This leads to maximize the efficiency of chemical disinfectant ability of electrolyzer unit as the next stage of ballasting. Also, ballast water of inflow is not filtered by whole screen but half screen so there is not high pressure drop. Half screen in smart pipe is cleaned by back-flushing result from turbulence, this means there is no periodic maintenance and replacement. Does AquaStar™ BWMS use ‘Filter’? <A> No, AquaStar™ BWMS does not use filter. Without filter, preconditioning by smart pipe unit and active substance by electrolyzer unit satisfy IMO D-2 Discharge standard. Plus, AquaStar™ BWMS did not consider filter at the designing stage because installation cost, installation area, clogging, maintenance works by using filter. How is ‘Pressure drop’ on AquaStar™ BWMS? <A> Pressure drop in AquaStar™ BWMS is less than 0.5 bar. Pressure drop in AquaStar™BWMS is not so fluctuate, but most BWMS makers using filter are. Plus, filter system adopted most BWMS makers has flushing(self-cleaning) or increase of power consumption or operational degradation by back pressure. Is gravitational ballasting possible on AquaStar™ BWMS? <A> Yes. AquaStar™ BWMS operates when flowmeter detects flow. As long as there is flow in the ballasting, AquaStar™ BWMS shall operate regardless gravitational ballasting. or BWMS. This is called ‘Dual operation system’. In other words, AquaStar™ BWMS is able to operate the both sides ballast pump simultaneously or is able to operate one system in particular cases. What is dual system operation of AquaStar™ BWMS? <A> Dual system operation is the one of AquaStar™ BWMS’s strengths. AquaStar™ BWMS does not treat ballast pump lines of portside and starboardside together, but AquaStar™ BWMSs installed to each portside and starboardside are designed to treat separately in order to avoid the risk of trouble from a ballast pump line or BWMS. This is called ‘Dual operation system’. In other words, AquaStar™ BWMS is able to operate the both sides ballast pump simultaneously or is able to operate one system in particular cases. Is AquaStar™ BWMS on and off automatically? <A> Yes. AquaStar™BWMS is connected to flowmeter regarding on and off. AquaStar™ BWMS starts operating when flowmeter detects flow, and vice versa. Is there ‘Flow control valve’ installation in order to flow-… <A> AquaStar™BWMS does not need ‘Flow control valve’. Because AquaStar™ BWMS controls relevant equipment through electric flow meter checking flow of ballast pump automatically. Is there any re-growth of aquatic organism in ballast tank a… <A> We found there was no regrowth as per examining 3 times of Lab test, 12 times Land-base test and 3 times of shipboard test. How different is disinfection efficiency according to seawat… <A> Disinfection efficiency does not depend on seawater temperature but TRO(Total Residual Oxydant), so there is no change on disinfection efficiency according to seawater temperature. We are planning to be certified the rest of AquaStar™ BWMS. Is there any effect on corrosion? <A> AquaStar™BWMS has examined over corrosion test over 6 months by KTR(Korea Testing & Research Institute) according to IMO recommendation.
